EASTERN REGIONAL CAUCUS PAID COURTESY CALL ON REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF HEALTH SERVICE, EASTERN REGION

A delegation from the Eastern Regional Caucus of the Association of Health Service Administrators, Ghana – AHSAG, paid a courtesy call on the Regional Director of Health Service [RDHS], Eastern Region, Dr. Damien Punguyire.

Dr. Damien Punguyire was the immediate past RDHS for the Upper West Region where the Association held their 47th Annual Conference and Continuing Professional Development.

Led by the Deputy Director, Administration [DDA], Eastern Region, Mr. Peter Boateng, the team were introduced to the RDHS and welcomed him into the region.

In a brief remark, the Caucus Chairperson, Mr. Clement Manfo, noted that the purpose of the visit was to formally welcome Dr. Punguyire to the region and, on behalf of all Health Service Administrators, pledge the Association’s full support to him during his tenure.

The RDHS expressed his appreciation for the visit and noted the critical roles Health Service Administrators play in the management of health facilities.

He acknowledged Administrators’ deep understanding of hospital operations and commended them for their contributions, especially in the areas of maintenance, ensuring a clean hospital environment and others.

He further encouraged Administrators to pay closer attention to quality of care, as the Ghana Health Service is currently responding to increasing demands from the service.

He emphasized the importance of championing the ongoing rebranding agenda of the Service both physical and soft. Physical rebranding included clear labelling and signage within facilities, while soft rebranding involves improvements in human resource management, customer care, and enforcement of disciplinary standards.

DDA also highlighted the pressing need for more Health Service Administrators in the region and stressed the importance of securing financial clearance for their recruitment. He informed the executives that the Regional Director will soon begin familiarization visits across the districts.

The meeting ended with the Chairperson expressing gratitude to the Director for the warm reception and fruitful engagement.
